VITA Program

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program

2.5 Million+ Tax Returns prepared annually | 60,000+ Volunteer sites | 50+ National partners

VITA offers FREE basic tax return preparation services to qualified individuals in the community. We partner with the Internal Revenue Service to provide oversight of the VITA program to help satisfy the needs of qualified taxpayers. This partnership is foundational in community building in serving low-to-moderate income taxpayers while creating a career exploration pathway for high school and college students.

How does it work?

> We come to train and certify student volunteers! The IRS provides training materials for high school and college student volunteers to become certified.

> Students volunteer at a local VITA Site and earn Community Service hours and/or Work-Based Learning hours.

> Trained and certified students are also eligible to earn a SCAA College and Career Innovation Digital Badge.
