AFTERSCHOOL FOR ALL CHALLENGE
FEBRUARY 2013
On February 7, 2013 thousands of after school advocates including parents, governors, educators, and business leaders from fifty (50) States gathered on Capitol Hill to visit Congressional members and U.S. Senators to:
1. Sustain federal investments by supporting funding for 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) and the Child Care Development Fund for the 2014 fiscal year;
2. Support the reintroduction of the bipartisan Afterschool for America's Children Act to incorporate improvements to 21st CCLC; and
3. Join the Afterschool Caucus

Zelda Waymer, Executive Director of the SC Aftershool Alliance, and Charmeka Childs, SC Deputy Superintendent of Education, made visits to the offices of:

U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham
U.S. Senator Tim Scott
Congressman Jeff Duncan
Congressman James Clyburn
Congressman Trey Gowdy

There are many ways to help ensure afterschool programs thrive. Vote for candidates who support aftrschool programs. Support local legislation that advances afterschool. Promote the benefits of afterschool programs to media and leaders in your community.
